Civil Practice

A civil lawsuit involves virtually any legal claim that is not considered a criminal or family law issue. Common examples of civil lawsuits might include things like:

  • Car accidents
  • Property disputes
  • Contract disputes
  • Collection matters

Alyse Fowler Law LLC has represented a wide variety of both individuals and businesses in civil cases that are both large and small. We have the experience you need to negotiate a settlement with another party or an insurance company. We can also represent your legal interests in front of a judge or jury as well.

We start the civil lawsuit process with a realistic evaluation of your legal rights. That means that we will take a hard look at the facts of your case and help you decide what your chances of success in a settlement or trial may be. We will set out your case's specific risks and weaknesses and address any concerns you may have as part of that process.

Our team will involve you as much or as little as you would like in your civil case. We will communicate with you and keep you updated on the progress of your case. Learn more about how we can help with your civil lawsuit by contacting our team to set up an initial consultation.

Small Claims

A small claims case is a legal case that involves a civil dispute that has a value of under $6,000. Small claims proceedings are a more streamlined legal process that is faster and less formal than district court. Both businesses and individuals can use small claims court to have a judge decide their legal dispute.

While you can go through small claims on your own, this legal process is still complicated, and it is much easier to have an attorney navigate the legal requirements of these circumstances for you. At Alyse Fowler Law LLC, we can investigate your case, gather evidence on your behalf, file your legal matter, and represent you at your small claims trial when it is scheduled.

In small claims cases, we are especially aware of the cost limitations of these claims, and we try hard to be realistic about the potential recoveries in this type of case. We also limit our time spent on these cases to meet your budgeting concerns.

Our team can also help you defend a small claims case as well. Learn more about the services we have to offer in Small Claims Court by calling 334-697-4020 to speak to a member of our team.

Evictions

Evictions in Alabama are far more complicated than you might think. Landlords must follow very specific notice and filing requirements to legally remove a tenant from their property. Residential tenants, in particular, have a wide range of rights that they can assert if a landlord is attempting to remove them.

There are also very specific laws that apply to what happens to personal items that are left behind after a tenant leaves. For example, landlords are required to store personal property for the tenant for up to 14 days, so the tenant has time to reclaim and collect their property. If the tenant’s rights are ignored, they have the option to assert money damages against the landlord.

Tenants also have state and federal protections that address discriminatory action. If this type of situation occurs, the tenant can sometimes remain in place for a period of time, and the landlord may have to pay the costs of any lawsuit that arises from their discriminatory action.

Whether you are a landlord or a tenant, Alyse Flower Law LLC can help you address your eviction concerns. We can work with you through the eviction process or provide general information about your rights and responsibilities as a landlord or a tenant in Alabama. Contact us today to learn more.
